Frequently Asked
Questions
Q: I have two
left feet, can I learn to dance?
A: Dancing is just walking to music. So, if you can walk and not too
deaf to here the music, you can certainly learn to dance.
Q: How long does it take to learn how to Dance?
A: Somewhere between five minutes and a lifetime. It all depends on how
much you want to learn and how well you want to do it. Most students can
learn enough in ten, one hour per week, dance lessons to be able to
dance the basics in at least two rhythms with reasonable comfort. To
learn to do the basics comfortably in all of the six most common
Ballroom rhythms, namely; Waltz, Social Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba
and Jive, approximately 30 to 40 hours of instruction will most likely
be needed. Most students who enjoy dancing well, will continue their
dance instruction as an ongoing activity, sometimes for many years.
Learning to dance smoothly with good dance mechanics and technique
comfortably, while obtaining a large repertoire of dance figures, takes
dedication and time.
Q: How much does lessons cost?
A: It all depends on how fast you want to learn and how good a dancer
you want to be. It also depends on what type of lessons you want to
take, i.e.; private, semi-private or group. At Dancing Creek Ballroom
Studio our instruction is offered at an hourly rate and not on a per
person rate. For definition of "Student" and our current rates
see the Rates page.
Q: How are dance instruction fees paid?
A: Per session in advance or a full package price in advance to obtain
discounts.
Q: Do I/we choose what rhythms I want to learn?
A: Yes and no. For beginner private or semi-private classes you will
have the choice of two during each ten week session. For group lessons
hosted by the studio, the choices may be pre-advertised or determined by
a consensus vote of the group.
Q: When can I/we take lessons?
A: All lessons at Dancing Creek Dance Studio are by appointment only.
Appointment schedules are based on the convenience of the student and
the availability of the instructors. Schedules for group lessons hosted
by the studio are based on a pre-advertised schedule.
Q: Can we learn to dance for our wedding?
A: Yes, we offer special "Learn to dance for you Wedding"
packages. These packages may be from 4 to 10 hours of instruction and
are intended to teach the "Bride and Groom To Be", a specific
kind of dance to the couples music of choice and possibly a specific
dance routine to the music if time permits, for the couples "first
dance".
Q: Why should I/we take dance lessons?

investment in fun, poise, confidence, improved social skills and a means
to meet and make many new friends.
